World Patient Safety Day 2023: Engaging Patients for Patient Safety

Written by AlisonFreemantle on Friday 4th August 2023

17th September. NHSE looking for relevant patient safety stories from Patients and Pharmacies

NHS England are looking for examples of patient safety stories from Patients and Community Pharmacies.

They want to hear patient stories; hearing the story from the patient’s perspective in their own words, carries so much more impact. The patient would need to be prepared to provide their name and location/ city.

Any stories may be published on the NHS England website and used on their social media channels.

If you have any patients who would be willing to share their experience with NHS England please email Vicki Roberts on victoria.roberts53@nhs.net

Evidence shows that when patients are treated as partners in their care, significant gains are made in safety, patient satisfaction and health outcomes.

Objectives of World Patient Safety Day 2023

  1. Raise awareness of the need for active engagement of patients and their families and caregivers in all settings and at all levels of health care to improve patient safety.
  2. Engage policy-makers, health care leaders, health and care workers, patients’ organisations and other stakeholders in efforts to engage patients and families in the policies and practices for safe health care.
  3. Empower patients and families to be actively involved in their own health care and in the improvement of safety of health care.

Working together to make healthcare safer.
