As part of MS-UK’s work to raise awareness of multiple sclerosis (MS) they are offering and FREE online MS Awareness session for people working in healthcare.
Why attend?
- MS is the most common disabling neurological condition in young adults. It is estimated that there are over 130,000 people in the UK who have MS.
- MS-UK know that social prescribing plays a huge role in universal personalised care services across health and social care.
- As well as having potential to impact on mobility and coordination, MS symptoms are often ‘invisible’ and can impact on aspects of daily living, employment, meaningful activities, and overall wellbeing. Nearly three quarters of respondents to a 2018 MS-UK survey said that they have experienced issues relating to loneliness and isolation. People living with MS also have higher rates of anxiety and depression than the general population.
What is the session about?
The session will touch on:

- A personal insight into living well with MS
- Symptom management and wellness – what support to people with MS need?
- MS-UK services and how we can support the MS community and their allies
- How social prescribers/community workers can support people on their MS journey
