FLU 2020 - Vaccination updates from NHS England & NHS Improvement - South East
Written by admin on Friday 4th December 2020
Updates regarding recent eligibility of 50-64 year old cohort and reminder to support the vaccination of care home staff
Please see the following two updates from the Pharmacy & Optometry team at NHS England and NHS Improvement - South East Region
50-64 years old
As you’ll be aware, the 50-64 year old cohort of patients has been confirmed as being eligible to receive a flu vaccination on the Pharmacy Advanced Service from today’s date.
Confirmation of the announcement and PGD confirmation are available at the links below:
Contractors do not need to take any action as the PGD is still valid and does not need re-signing as the cohort information was included in the original PGD document.

Care home staff
Thank you so much for all your continued hard work with this year’s flu vaccination programme.
We are writing to ask for your support with vaccinating care home staff. There has been relatively low uptake amongst care home staff, and we continue to hear reports about care home workers not being able to access vaccination from community pharmacies.
Please can you ensure that all the pharmacy team are aware that care home workers are eligible for vaccination, and to check this when they are talking to patients about appointments, as care home workers may not make this clear when phoning.
We need to ensure that no one is turned away in error.
If you don’t have stock when approached by care home workers, it would be extremely helpful if you could offer to get in touch with them when you do or at least advise them when to check back with you.
