Business Crime Reduction Partnerships

A Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) is a partnership approach to preventing crime and disorder. It is a subscription based, business-led, local action group working with police and the local authority to tackle and reduce crime and disorder affecting businesses and the wider community. 

BCRPs operate to make towns, cities and communities safer by: 

• Collating intelligence on known troublemakers.
• Excluding from private premises on a ‘banned from one banned from all’ basis.
• Working with local police to enforce those exclusions and prevent further offences.
• Assist with the rehabilitation of offenders.
• Deliver local crime reduction initiatives.

Portsmouth BCRP operate using an app based database (DISC) which can be used on a mobile phone or on a radio provided by the scheme.

Through the DISC database, incidents can then either be:

• reported directly to the police via the DISC offender management database
• stored/ shared offender incidents/intelligence that the police don’t deal with (trespass/aggravating factors etc)
• Create report of offender to be used at court to help secure heavier custodial sentences

2. Ease of reporting incidents/aggravating factors on the database/App, processed and circulated in almost real-time, 7 days/week.

4. Previously unknown offenders can now easily be identified.
5. By building better offender profiles with all the incidents and additional aggravating factors collected, this can help secure heavier custodial sentences for prolific offenders.

What do you get as a member of PBCRP?

• Scheme wide civil banning processes called Strike Card, through it, all incidents are collated and aggravating factors recorded.
• In person, regular visits conducted to members sites by partnership manager.
• Direct 24 hour access to the GDPR safe DISC database of offender images, profiles, alerts and criminality information relevant to your teams and locations.
• Alert emails for live incidents and recent occurrences.
• Cross industry information drawn from PBCRP’s involvement in both the day/night time economy.
• Updates on new initiatives offered by local authority stakeholders such as police, public health, counter terrorism teams etc.
• Full members also have use of the secure two way radio communication network.

Membership

Half –  £310/annum (1^st Feb – 31^st Jan)

• Access to DISC offender management database 24/7,
• On call scheme manager (administrator/caretaker) 7 days/week ,
• Alerts, briefings, regular updates and news.

Full – £610/annum (1^st Feb – 31^st Jan)

• As above plus digital radio, infrastructure, recordings, call logs etc.
• Part of this cost covers free issue radios that we provide to some partners, street pastors, taxi marshals, etc.
