The Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards are back for their 10th year of championing the work of community pharmacy staff across the UK
Pharmacy teams are encouraged to nominate themselves or colleagues before the closing date of 7 April 2023.
As the only UK awards exclusively for community pharmacy support staff, the RoE Awards honour dedicated employees who go the extra mile to support their customers, colleagues and communities. They could be medicines counter assistants, delivery drivers, dispensing assistants, health champions, pharmacy technicians, team leaders, non-pharmacist managers or hold any other patient-facing role within the community pharmacy support team.
10-year anniversary celebrations
To celebrate 10 years of the RoE Awards, the Training Matters team will be travelling across the UK to find the best of the best in community pharmacy. Between January and April they will be visiting community pharmacies to raise awareness about the vital roles pharmacies play in their communities, highlight the successes of individuals and teams and celebrate unsung heroes.
The team will provide each participating pharmacy with the opportunity to enter or nominate pharmacy team members for the RoE Awards 2023. When they visit, they will chat with the team, provide some digital #RoE23 assets and share your success stories across their in-print, digital and social media channels. If you’d like them to visit your pharmacy, email: millie.browning@1530.com
Awards for 2023
Following the introduction of the Health Equality Award in 2022, two new awards have been added for 2023: the Sustainability Champion and the Innovation Award.
The first will reward an individual who has taken steps to improve the sustainability of their pharmacy whether that be through joining sustainable schemes and programmes or searching for sustainable products to stock. The second will honour someone who has taken steps to improve the pharmacy through innovative ideas such as new technology or processes to make the running of the pharmacy more efficient.
This year the awards have been given a refresh, some popular categories have therefore been renamed to help pharmacy teams enter the right category for them. The complete list of awards categories is as follows:
- Best Newcomer: to recognise a member of the team who has started their pharmacy career in the last two years and is excelling in their role.
- Clinical Services Star: to reward someone who is supporting their community by spearheading new or popular specialist clinical services.
- Health Equality Award: to recognise an individual who has identified and tackled health inequalities for their patients and communities.
- Innovation Award: to reward someone who has taken steps to improve their pharmacy through innovative ideas.
- Outstanding Contribution Award: to recognise someone who has demonstrated true dedication to community pharmacy and supported their customers and patients.
- Pharmacy Team of the Year Award: for the most outstanding pharmacy team.
- Product Advisor Award: to reward a member of the team who excels in OTC product knowledge and demonstrates a clear commitment to their learning.
- Sustainability Champion: to recognise a member of staff who has taken steps to improve the sustainability of their pharmacy.
- Team Leader Award: for excellence in pharmacy team leadership.
Each category winner will go forward to The Spotlight Award, which is given to the most outstanding entrant or entrants, as chosen by the expert judging panel.
Pharmacy support staff can enter as many categories as they wish or nominate others. Nominations from pharmacists, area managers or customers are encouraged, too.
Entries and nominations should be submitted by 7 April 2023 via: www.tmmagazine.co.uk/recognition-of-excellence-awards
Finalists in all categories will be invited to enjoy a champagne reception, lunch, and ceremony where prizes will be awarded in central London on 30th June 2023.
